Endowment funds: an innovative tool for financing philanthropy

An innovative tool for financing philanthropy, the endowment fund combines the advantages of the 1901 law association and the foundation. Endowed with legal personality, it consists of an irrevocable allocation of assets for the realization of a mission or work of general interest.

The aivancity endowment fund aims to contribute to the development of diversity and social inclusion within aivancity, in particular by financing scholarships for students.

It also aims to develop research activities that contribute to the evolution of knowledge and practices in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, while integrating the principles of trust and ethics.

The constitutional principle of equal access to education for all citizens, and the undeniable affirmation of the role of training as a social elevator to reduce social and economic inequalities, are at the root of the creation of this endowment fund.
Beyond its technical challenges, AI today raises many questions about its implications for business and management, as well as for tomorrow's people and society. By financing research and development projects, the aivancity endowment fund aims to advance the application of AI, while taking into account changes in business practices and society's expectations.

A mission of general interest

  • Awarding scholarships or prizes to people in difficulty, to help them finance their studies, international mobility and/or professional projects.
  • Helping people in difficulty to draw up a skills assessment and define a professional reintegration strategy.
  • Financing training programs (including distance learning) for people in difficulty.
  • Production and implementation of research projects, chairs and programs
  • Distribution of research grants
  • Set up and run networks of researchers, and inform the public about the fund's activities and current developments in artificial intelligence and data science research.
  • Organization of research, training, meetings, symposia and seminars
  • The publication of any analysis, work, thesis, nomenclature, etc. within the scope of its purpose
  • The organization of workshops, courses, training sessions and any other activity promoting the dissemination of a responsible and ethical culture of Artificial Intelligence and Data science.
  • To receive and manage, by capitalizing on them, the assets and rights of all kinds that are contributed to it free of charge and irrevocably, with a view to redistributing the income to assist it in the deployment of its works and missions of general interest and to carry out projects of an exceptional nature. The resources of the fund will be used, among other things, by students of the aivancity school for Technology Business & Society, to enable them to take part in competitions, organize conferences, take part in humanitarian and charitable actions and, more generally, develop their skills. To this end, it may cover expenses of all kinds.
