Biography

After earning his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering in 2009 and his master’s degree in electrical engineering in 2011, both from the Federal University of Pará (Brazil), Thiago Abreu earned his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Lyon 1 (UCBL1) in 2015, focusing on the modeling and performance evaluation of multi-hop wireless networks.

While pursuing his Ph.D., he worked as a research engineer at the Computer Science Laboratory at Paris 6 University, where he continued his research in the field of cellular networks. He then secured a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at IRISA in Rennes, focusing on the performance evaluation of information-centric networks.

In September 2016, he became an associate professor at the University of Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC), where he teaches at the Public School of Health and Digital Engineering (EPISEN). His research focuses on performance evaluation and system modeling in the field of wireless sensor networks, as applied to e-health systems and body-to-environment networks.

He now focuses on the application of machine learning techniques to e-health and pollution monitoring in smart cities. His work is conducted at the Laboratory for Images, Signals, and Intelligent Systems (LiSSi).
