Areas of expertise
Artificial Intelligence
Dr. Etienne Mauffret is an Associate Professor, Director of the MSc in Data Engineering at aivancity, and a Researcher at aivancity. An expert in distributed systems, distributed algorithms, and large-scale data management systems, he completed his thesis titled "Replica Management in a Large-Scale Data Management Service with a Variable Consistency Protocol" at the LISTIC laboratory at Polytech' Annecy-Chambéry. This thesis allowed him to deepen his knowledge of large-scale data management systems, focusing on optimizing data placement to improve various metrics such as user latency and energy consumption.
After completing his dissertation, Dr. Mauffret joined the LIP at the ENS Lyon, where he worked for two years as an assistant professor and later as a research engineer. He helped launch the SkyData project, which aims to develop a system of autonomous, intelligent, and self-managed data. This project is still ongoing and is combined with another research project exploring the relationships between the constraints of a distributed system and the quality of distributed learning within that system.
