An expected strategic shift in the generative AI landscape
Officially announced for summer 2025, ChatGPT-5 crystallizes the expectations of professional users and the general public alike. After the significant advances of GPT-4.5 and the introduction of specialized agents such as Deep Research and Codex, this new version promises an even more fluid, multimodal and contextual experience. What will this mean for users in concrete terms, and how can we prepare for it now?
ChatGPT-5: towards multimodal, proactive and personalized conversational AI
According to initial information unveiled by OpenAI at the DevDay 2025 conference, ChatGPT-5 will introduce several major innovations:
- Extended contextual understanding: long-term memory is now activated by default, enabling in-depth personalization of interactions.
- Receiving and processing complex instructions: the ability to interpret instructions in several stages will be improved, facilitating the automation of business workflows.
- Advanced multimodality: ChatGPT-5 will simultaneously understand and generate text, image, audio and code, with improved intermodal consistency.
- Enhanced interoperability: the model will be able to connect to third-party applications via the new “intelligent connectors” introduced with GPT-4.5.
These enhancements are designed to transform ChatGPT into a true productivity assistant integrated into the work environment, capable of meeting complex needs in a variety of business contexts.
New functions expected for summer 2025
The ChatGPT-5 version, which will initially be rolled out to paying subscribers (ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise), will feature :
- A multilingual collaborative mode, capable of generating cross-referenced summaries or multilingual summaries in real time;

Towards a more responsible and governable AI
OpenAI emphasizes the ethical safeguards built into ChatGPT-5 :
- Transparency of reasoning: an automatic annotation system makes it possible to trace the sources and stages of algorithmic reasoning;
- Context-sensitive security filters: adjustable by sector (legal, medical, education) to prevent risky responses;

A deployment strategy to watch
ChatGPT-5 will be deployed in several waves:
- July 2025: early access for ChatGPT Enterprise users.
- August 2025: available to Plus users.
- End 2025: partial opening of functions to the general public, in freemium mode.
OpenAI also includes an enhanced API for developers, with fine-tuning options for specific fields of activity (energy, education, law…).
ChatGPT-5: a new era for digital assistants?
More than just an update, ChatGPT-5 represents a technological convergence between conversational agent, search engine, graphical assistant and business copilot.
